Judd's visit to The White Room

It was such a pleasure to have Judd Waddell here at The White Room last weekend. Not only was Judd here to assist each bride with the selection of their wedding gown, he also did some fabulous updo's and accessorized to perfection.

WATTERS BRIDE

Watters Bride is coming to The White Room. We are proud to annouce that we will now be carrying the Watters Bridal Gowns. This is exciting news. I took an overnight trip to the Chicago Bridal Market last week (March 29th) just to see this line and I loved it. We've already started receiving our gowns as of April 14th)!!! Come in and see these great gowns at great prices!

New York Bridal Market - Fall 09

Oh my - girls - what wonderful gowns we've seen at market. The only trouble with going to see our designers and picking our gowns for the next season is that we have to wait 2 to 4 months for the gowns to start arriving in our salon. It's always a whirlwind - those few days in New York. We started off our venture seeing the latest from Rivini, then off to Romona Keveza - so Saturday was a pretty easy day. Oh but Sunday and Monday - let's see first it was Christos, Amsale, Anne Barge, Badgley Mischka and then - yes Ulla Maija, then off to see Lea Ann Belter, Paloma Blanca then to Judd Waddell (I'll tell you about this later) and finally Monique Lhuillier. Tuesday was an easy day winding up with Reem Acra and a final appointment back at Ulla Maija. Wow - I'm worn out just thinking about it all!

Now for the good news girls - all of our designers are really trying very, very hard to hold their pricing as low as possible. They know that everyone is watching their overall budget - they are listening to you!!! Here are a few of my fav's!

Again, Judd Waddell - always a favorite! I mentioned earlier that I'd tell you more later - well I was blown away to find that Judd has created a fantastic line of evening wear - our Mothers are going to love this! Here is a sneak peak.

While we would love to show all the pictures taken that day - many girls did find "THE DRESS" and out of respect for them, we will not show those pictures. Judd is a former architecture student turned fashion designer. He has appeared twice on lifetime television's "Weddings of a Lifetime" and designed the bridal & bridesmaids gowns for the movie "The Object of My Affection." In each phase of his career, Judd has maintained a basic design philosophy: "notice the woman first, the dress second". Judd believes this concept of simplicity is a natural outgrowth of his architectural background.

Amanda Russell & Joe Wright wed on September 13, 2008 at Reid Chapel on Samford University Campus with a reception to follow at The Birmingham Museum of Art. Amanda & Joe used some of Birmingham's finest wedding professionals. Of course we did the dress it was by Rivini. Arden Photography created all the images for the day. Alene of I Do I Do Wedding Planning took care of the planning. Vince Gray of Flower Stems did lighting and flowers. The food was catered by Kathy G & Company.

I really enjoyed the "Breakfast at Bromberg's" event on Saturday, January 17th. The Carraway Davie House did a terrific job with the food. There were some great vendors there such as Melissa Hill from Wedding Etc., Katie from Engaged, Geoff from Jamm Entertainment, Katie from Arden Photography, Gus and Tonya from Norton's Florist and lots of others. Oh, and the girls that dressed up for the event - great job girls. Not to mention being surrounded by Diamonds for the morning!!!!

Wynfrey Bridal Show

We enjoyed seeing all the brides on Sunday, January 4th - the show was a great success. Remember girls - if your looking for a sample sale gown, bring in your cards from the show for the extra discount!

Trunk Show 101

A trunk show is a special event at which a wedding gown designer (or representative from his or her company) visits a bridal boutique to showcase his or her entire line of gowns. Typically fresh off the runway, trunk shows offer a sneak peek at what stores will stock in the coming months. Since proper samples haven't arrived in shops countrywide, visiting a shop that is having a trunk show is your best bet to check out the latest in wedding gown fashions. Plus, it is a great time to purchased your gown - generally the bridal boutique offers a discount to purchase and the designer will either split or comp (depending on changes) the cost of rushes, split sizes, extra length, etc.

When you learn that a bridal boutique is having a trunk show, it's best to go to that designer's website to determine if his or her style is what you are looking for.

New York Bridal Market - Spring 09

We are very excited to annouce the addition of three new designers to The White Room - AMSALE, CHRISTOS and REEM ACRA. The gowns that we ordered last month will start arriving in our shop at the end of December. If you see a gown that you like from one of these designers and it's not something that we have in the store yet, just let us know and we can have it brought in for you to see. In addition, we saw Judd Waddell's best gown ever - it made me tear up! Anne Barge and Badgley Mischka always show a wide variety of styles - always terrific gowns! And just when we do not think it's possible for RIVINI to top what they have already done - BAM! We've also picked up a line of veils (the short and sassy kind) from Sara Gabriel - they are just too cute! So girls, just know that we have something for everyone!

Sample Sale Dresses Out All Year

We have re-arranged the shop and as of November 1, we have a room dedicated to nothing but sample sale items! We have all of our sample sale wedding gowns out, as well as Mother of the Bride/Groom and shoes, all year round.

The wedding gowns are all 20%- 70% off and Mother's dresses and shoes are all 50% off.

The wedding gowns are sample sizes 10's and 12's, which is about a 6 or 8 in regular clothes. The Mother's dresses range from sizes 6-18.

So if you are working with a tighter budget or a shorter time frame, come visit us here and take a look at what we've got!

Atlanta Market

Carolyn and Cathy went to market in Atlanta this past weekend to check out the new Spring '09 collections in Mother of the Bride/Groom. They purchased some great new things that will begin making their way into the shop around the beginning of the year.

We have picked up a new line of mother's gowns called Siri. We are excited to bring them to Birmingham! Look for them in our store starting in February.

Biscuit

We would like to introduce you to our newest member of The White Room "Biscuit". My precious little Shih-Tzu was born on April 4, 2008. Carolyn and I drove to Phil Campbell, AL to pick him out and bring him home on May 31, 2008. Do not worry - Biscuit does not have full run of the house - he is strickly an office associate. Please make sure on your visit to The White Room to stop by the office to say hello!!!
